Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient healing system that recognize the relationship between body and mind as integrated process. TCM is a complete medical system that has been used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illnesses for more than 2,000 years, it is based on a belief in yin and yang, defined as opposing energies, such as earth and heaven, winter and summer, and happiness and sadness. When yin and yang are in balance, you feel relaxed and energized. Out of balance, however, yin and yang negatively affect your health. The basis of TCM is the evidence that good health depends on the restoration and maintenance of harmony and balance by increasing the body’s own healing abilities. In TCM, different aspects of life including our mental and emotional state, our diet and lifestyle, and our environment are considered equally important for a person’s wellbeing.

While modern Western medicine views body and mind as separate entities (therefore treating diseases with specific drugs and searching to eliminate offending micro-organisms from our bodies), Chinese medicine uses natural approaches to rebalance our whole being, never separating out the mind and body from the environment. This means that harmony ‘’absence of pain and disease’’ within the whole body depends on the good interactions between all the vital systems and organs.

According to TCM, all our organs and vital body functions interact in a single continuum, each one influencing, restraining, and controlling each other. The objective of TCM treatment is to balance yin and yang by promoting the natural flow of qi which is described as the wind in a sail.

A health assessment in Traditional Chinese Medical can detect subtle imbalances in the body before they develop into diseases, and much earlier than regular Western medical tests can detect any abnormalities.
TCM stimulates the body's own healing mechanisms.

Practices used in TCM include:

  • Acupuncture, acupressure and electro-stimulation
  • Moxibustion, burning an herb near the skin
  • Auriculotherapy
  • Herbal medicine
  • Nutrition
  • Chinese massage, called tui Na.
  • Gua Sha
  • Exercise, such as tai chi and qi gong which combine movement with meditation

Prenatal & Postpartum Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a great drug free alternative treatment which can play a very effective role in monitoring pregnancy. It has the major advantage of avoiding or minimizing the use of drugs whose teratogenic effects, like the risk of malformations of the fetus.

During pregnancy, acupuncture can:
  • relieve nausea and vomiting (morning sickness)

 Childbirth preparation:
  • promote the induction of labor in case of exceeding the term
  • promote relaxation of the cervix and perineum
  • stimulate uterine contractility

After childbirth, acupuncture can:

Aesthetic Acupuncture

Aesthetic acupuncture is not only a cosmetic procedure, but it is also a medical treatment with visible and satisfactory results.

It is a natural, holistic treatment that treats skin symptoms and the underlying pathological problem of premature aging. The needles stimulate skin cells to defend themselves, leading to blood and nutrients gathering around that injured tissue and accelerating connective tissue reformation. This triggers the additional Aesthetic production of collagen and elastin while relaxing the connective tissue between the skin and muscles and increasing water content of the skin.

By stimulating specific motor points, tense muscles relax and weakened muscles become strong which helps restore symmetry of the face, gives a naturally lifted face and prevents the skin from being drooping.

Cosmetic acupuncture is safe with minimal invasive treatment it is used for:
  • Cosmetics problems like wrinkles, droopy skin, bad complexion, swelling face, scarring
  • Dark, puffy eyes, pigmentation, and dark spots
  • Asymmetry of the face ‘‘Bell’s palsy or hemiplegia”
  • TMJ disorders
  • Stimulates lymphatic and circulatory systems helping remove waste toxins from the body.
  • Acne, by encouraging lymphatic drainage, it may be aiding in the elimination of toxins that may contribute to breakouts.

Micro needling is used for cell proliferation with its maximum effect peaks 2 months after treatment. However, the improvement of the skin begins to be felt within 2 to 4 weeks after the procedure.
